The son of George Bingham, rector of Pimperne in Dorsetshsire, Peregrine Bingham was educated at Winchester College and New College Oxford (B.C.L. 1780, Fellow 1774-87). He was rector of Edmondsham, in Dorset (1782) and of Berwick St John, Wiltshire (1817). In 1807 he married Amy Bowles, daughter of the poet William Lisle Bowles. His child Peregrine, by a previous marriage, became a notable lawyer.
