ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Jane Timbury

(1750 ca.-1791 fl.)

Information is lacking about Jane Timbury, who published The Male Coquet, an epistolary novel, in 1770. Her History of Tobit was "printed for, and sold by, the Author," suggesting that she was employed in retail. Her novel, The Triumph of Friendship (1789) seems not to have survived.
