The satirist Robert Anton (or Anthony) was born in London, and may have been the son of George Anton, Recorder of Lincoln. He entered Magdalene College Cambridge as a pensioner in 1606 (B.A. 1609). Anton took orders in 1618 and was curate of Shalford in Surrey from 1616.
