ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Rev. James Bannister

(1750 ca.-1816 fl.)

This is apparently the James Bannister who reviewed poetry and divinity for the Monthly Review 1794-1801. Some verses by him in the Bath Herald for 12 March 1796 indicate that he had been in Portugal. Bannister has several poems in the Gentleman's Magazine.
