Little is known of Elizabeth Pennington, daughter of the Rev. John Pennington, Rector of All Saint's, in Huntingdon. She was an acquaintance of the Rev. John Duncombe who began corresponding with Samuel Richardson in 1756, shortly before her death at the age of twenty-five. Her Ode to a Thrush is published in the fifth volume of Dodsley's Collection of Poems.
