Patrick J. Meagher

(1810-1880)


Patrick J. Meagher was born at Bantry in Cork, where he contributed to Bolster's Magazine and published a volume of poems at the age of sixteen. In 1835 he joined the volunteer army supporting the Spanish Infanta, and afterwards worked as a correspondent for The Times in Madrid and Paris.
