1687 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Robert Baron

William Winstanley, Lives of the Most Famous English Poets (1687) 113.

Of this Robert Baron, we can recover nothing, save only those Dramatick Pieces which he wrote to the Stage, and which no doubt passed with good applause in those times. Of these are remembered his Don Quixot, or the Knight of the Ill-favoured Countenance; a Comedy; Gripus and Hegia, a Pastoral; Deorum Dona, Dick Scorner, Destruction of Jerusalem, the Marriage of Wit and Science, Masques and Interludes; and Myrza, a Tragedy.
