24 February. At his chambers in the Temple, Edw. Capell, esq; deputy inspector of plays. He devoted the last 37 years of his life to the study of Shakspeare's plays, of which he published an edition in the year 1768. Since that time he has been employed in compiling and printing the illustrations to it, the greater part of which we are informed are already finished. He was the alterer of Antony and Cleopatra, acted at Drury-Lane 1758. He was also editor of a volume of antient poems called Prolusions.
