This gentleman, a native of the northern part of the kingdom, was some time chaplain to the factory at Leghorn, and resided in Italy. After his arrival in England, he became acquainted with Mr. Garrick, by whose interest he procured the appointment of chaplain to the Leander man of war; but this office he afterwards resigned, and is now, we believe, rector of Lesborough and Long Houghton, in Northumberland. He is the author of a translation from Tasso, called 1. Amyntas. Past. 8vo. 1770; and of 2. Ximenes. T. 8vo. 1788.
