David Rivers, Literary Memoirs of Living Authors (1798) 2:246.

WILLIAM SEWARD, ESQ. a very successful and judicious Compiler. He has published an entertaining and interesting Collection of Anecdotes of some distinguished Persons, chiefly of the present and two preceeding Centuries, in four crown octavo volumes, of which the two first were published in 1795. Mr. Seward had furnished the European Magazine with many of these anecdotes previously to this publication.
