2 August. At St. Albans, Dr. Cotton, many years physician there, and author of "Visions in Verse, for the Instruction of younger Minds." He was distinguished for his great care, humanity, and attention to those unhappy objects to whose cure he had devoted his principal study; and is succeeded by Dr. Pellet, who assisted him in his practice....

Dr. Cotton was also author of some poems in Dodsley's "Collection," and "Observations on a particular Kind of Scarlet Fever, that lately prevailed in and about St. Albans," 1749, 4to.
