THOMAS KIBBLE HERVEY (son of James Hervey of Manchester, drysalter). b. Paisley 4 Feb. 1799; ed. at Manchester free gr. sch.; articled to Sharp, Eccles & Co. solicitors, Manchester; studied for the bar; at Trin. coll. Cam. 181-20; edited the Friendship's Offering 1826-7; migrated to Paris 1827 but soon returned to London; edited The Amaranth 1839; a leading contributor to the Athenaeum from 1828, editor 23 May 1846, resigned Dec. 1853; contributed to the Art Journal 1855-9.
