This witty and agreeable writer was the eldest daughter of Evelyn, the first Duke of Kingston, by Lady Mary Fielding, sister to Basil Earl of Denbigh. She was married to Edward Wortley Montagu, Esq; whom she accompanied in his Embassy to Constantinople, in the year 1716. During her residence at that place, she became acquainted with the art of Inoculation, for the Small-pox, and had the fortitude to permit one of the first trials of its efficacy, to be made on her own children. On her return to England, she greatly facilitated the introduction of the present salutary practice of cure in that disorder. She died 21st August 1762.
