PERCIVAL STOCKDALE. This gentleman is a native of the northern part of the kingdom, and is also a clergyman. He was some time chaplain to the factory at Leghorn, and resided in Italy. After his arrival in England, he became acquainted with Mr. Garrick, by whose interest he procured the appointment of chaplain to a man of war; but this office he has since resigned. He is the author of a translation from Tasso, called,
