Ox. 1829; Wesleyan minister; built church of All Saints, Chorlton-upon-Medlock, Manchester at cost of £18,000, R. of All Saints 1820 to death, greater part of church was destroyed by fire 6 Feb. 1850; F.L.S. for discovering in Anglesea a plant new to the science; author of Horae Poeticae 1815; The Bardiad, a poem in two cantos 1823, 2 ed. 1823; Lectures on the Millenium 1841; Lectures on the world before the flood 1844; Lectures on Popery 1851 and about 15 other books. d.
