1779 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

George Keate

Apropos to books, I have not been able to read Wraxall's Memoirs yet — I wish Mrs. Ord had not lent them me; and now Lady Ladd too, has brought me two volumes, called Sketches from Nature, written by Mr. Keate. What I have read of them repaid me nothing for the time they took up, — a mere and paltry imitation of Sterne's Sentimental Journey.
