INSCRIPTION on the Monument which will speedily be erects in Westminster Abbey, to the Memory of the late BONNELL THORNTON, M.B. written by the Rev. Thomas Warton, M.A. Fellow of Trinity College, Oxford, &c.

BONNELL THORNTON, Armiger,
Honesta Prosapia
In hac Civitate natus;
E vicinia Schola Regia
Ad Aedem Christi Oxoniensis Alumnus migravit,
Ubi Gradum Baccalauri in Medicina suicepit.
Cujus Ingenium
Faustissime Literis omnibus humanioribus excultum,
More aperti, sinceri, candidi,
Comitabantur et commendabant.
In Scriptis, in Sermone,
Mira erat Festivitate;
Et facetiarum Vena sibi fere propria pollebat.
In Hominum Ineptiis calamo perstringendis,
Sine Felle tamen, et multa cum Hilaritate,
Unice felix.
Duxit in Uxorem SYLVIAM BRATHWAITE,
Quum cum tribus Liberis superstitem reliquit;
Hujus etiam Marmoris,
Summo sui suorumque Luctu,
Sumptus rite facientem.
Obiit Desinderatissium, Die non Maii,
Anno M DCC LXIX.
Et Aetatis suae XLIV.
