1738 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Elijah Fenton

William Warburton to Thomas Birch, 27 May 1738; Nichols, Illustrations of the Literary History of the XVIII Century (1817-58) 2:87-88.

I was desired by the Master of Peter House [Peter Whalley], who is about to publish Spenser, to enquire whether Fenton, who published Waller, and he hears had an intention of publishing Spenser, left any papers on that subject behind him, and how they are to be procured if he did. I take the liberty of applying to you, as the properest person to give me information, which I shall esteem a great favour.
