1778 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Lord Kames

Elizabeth Montagu, 1778; Reginald Blunt, Mrs. Montagu, 1762-1800 (1923) 2:55.

The four days Lord Kaimes stayed with me I did not feel a moment's ennui. His lordship is fourscore and three years of life, of age 25. His memory now is equal to any one I ever knew, and his vivacity superior. Having a large property and being also a trustee of the forfeited estates in Scotland he has employed much time and pains on agriculture and manufactures and all the useful arts.
