He was undoubtedly a Man of very great Learning, and altho' Translation has within our latter Ages reach'd a greater Degree of Perfection than it had then attained, a due Honour ought to be paid to the Industry of this Writer, who translated, and that in a Manner far from contemptible, the whole Iliad, Odyssey, and Bactryomyomachia of Homer, some Parts of Hesiod, and Musaeus's Erotopaegnion.
