1801 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

William Boscawen

Anonymous, Review of Boscawen, Poems; Poetical Register for 1801 (1802) 437-38.

This volume bears very ample and honourable testimony to the patriotic spirit, the feeling heart, and the cultivated mind of its author. His ode to Anarchy displays a truly British spirit. Some of the poems were written for the service of charity, and are worthy of their design. The style of Mr. Boscawen is elegant, correct, and perspicuous.
