What modern work even of the size of Paradise Lost, — much less of the Faery Queen — (N.B. are even these read?) would be read in the present day, or even bought, or likely to be bought, unless it be an instructive work, like Roscoe's 5 quartos of Leo X. — or Boswell's 3 of Dr. Johnson's pilfered brutalities of wit?
