In his novel of Arthur Fitz-Albini the reader will find recorded much of the author's sombre experience. Like Lord Byron, whom in some respects he resembled, Sir Egerton is continually presenting his own woeful visage in his gloomy galleries. As a writer Sir Egerton has conferred substantial benefits on the literature of his country, especially in his researches in early English poetry.
