In 1798, The Genius of Caledonia, a poem on the Threatened Invasion, was printed at Edinburgh, "For J. Symington, bookseller, Parliament Square." The author of this poem is said to be Mr. A. Balfour of Arboath, whose pieces have appeared in the Edinburgh Magazine. This young gentleman's Elegy to the memory of Robert Burns, (see Edin. Mag. for Oct. 1796,) is by far the best that has appeared on the subject.
