1815 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Charles Lamb to William Wordsworth, 8 April 1815; Thomas Noon Talfourd, Literary Sketches and Letters ... of Charles Lamb (1849) 115.

I was lately fatiguing myself with going through a volume of fine words by Lord Thurlow; excellent words, and if the heart could live by words alone, it could desire no better regales; but what an aching vacuum of matter!
