1808 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

David Carey

Robert Anderson to Alexander Balfour, 9 July 1808; Balfour, Weeds and Wildflowers (1830) xxxvii.

I have a great kindness for CAREY, and his gratitude for the interest I have taken in his fortune and fame, is a reward I have not often had the satisfaction to receive in the same degree. I have reason to be sick of aiding and abetting authors, and authoring transactions; but, while I live, I will continue to do all the good I can in my humble sphere of influence.
