Chandos Leigh

Leigh Hunt to Edward Moxon, 14 October [1840 ca.?]; Brewer, My Leigh Hunt Library ... Letters (1938) 200-01.

Dear Sir,

Will you be kind enough to read and return the enclosed, and take the trouble of letting me know exactly how matters stand in your account-book with regard to Mr. Seaton's bills? Also, at what time (if they have gone) the packet of books went off to Calcutta? I need not ask if you have seen anything of Mr. Chandos Leigh; because at all events I ought to have written to him, and have not. But they are two such different things, — the writing to a man with one's hands full of the power of showing one's gratitude, and — the reverse predicament. Oh, how different!

Ever truly yours, Leigh Hunt.
