1882 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

George Lyttelton

Epes Sargent, in Harper's Cyclopaedia of British and American Poetry (1882) 177.

Lyttelton (1709-1773), a native of Hagley, and the son of a baronet, was educated at Oxford, and at nineteen travelled on the Continent. He is one of the poets admitted into Aikin's Collection; but the most buoyant of his productions is the one little song which we subjoin [Tell me, my Heart].
