I wonder that so good a man as Richardson should have written that dangerous book Pamela. I met with one volume when I was young; my mother also met with it, and committed it to the flames. A sketch of the story was told to a young girl here the other day. I enjoyed her honest surprise, when, opening her fine black eyes to their full dimensions, she exclaimed, "And would she marry him?"
