R ead my heart's sorrow in my ardent sighs,
O! rose-lipp'd Goddess of the Paphian skies;
B reathe one soft sigh my anguish to remove,
I ask no gleam of pity, less than love.
N o friend shall hear my tongue prophane thy name,
S hould'st thou still bid me see the quiv'ring flame!
O! let thy heart thy wond'rous pow'r to prove,
N urse the sweet blossoms of returning love!
