1785 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Ann Yearsley

Anonymous, "Miss Hannah Moore and the Bristol Milk-woman" Public Advertiser (8 September 1785).

The Bristol Milk-woman and Miss Hannah Moore are no longer as they were, patroness and client. Anne Yearsley, at length, puffed up into a sufficient estimate of herself, has begun to indicate the irritability of poetry; and to quarrel in downright earnest with, and not in, the most gentle terms. The subscriptions to the poems are said to have been the topic.
