1806 ENGLISH POETRY 1579-1830: SPENSER AND THE TRADITION

Bp. Richard Mant

Anonymous, Review of Mant, Poems; Poetical Register for 1806-07 (1811) 507.

These poems deserve to find a place in the library of every person of poetical taste. They are chastely elegant, and at the same time not deficient in animation. We may, however, spare our criticism, as our readers have had an opportunity of forming their own estimate of Mr. Mant's talents. In our volumes for 1802 and 1803, some of his pieces were inserted. Those he has now published are at least of equal merit.
